This family of DSL Modems and Extenders operates within the 802.3ah standard offering you more bandwidth, compatibility and manageability.
The models available allow the use of 1, 2 or 4 twisted pair lines:
Choice of models
- MDS952AE-10BT-R2 – connection over 1 twisted pair (2 wires) – up to 5.7 Mbps
- MDS958C – 8-wire module connects to four 2-wires dektop models (MDS952)
All models are protected against over-voltage resulting from line failures and lightning. If your route is longer than the 802.3ah standard allows, the modems fall back into the standard G.SHDSL operating mode. The same will happen on routes that do not meet the circuit quality needs of the extenders. Even with the G.SHDSL standard a maximum bandwidth of 2.3 Mbps is possible over long distances. These new generation Extenders are capable of operating at up to 30km depending on the quality, length and diameter of your wires. Stable operation of the modems is ensured. Even if some of the wires fail when using the 4 or 8 wire modems the route will still operate with lower bandwidth. The 802.3ah management makes it then possible to check the remote extender.
